Terraforming Mars Production Phase Rules: Energy, Heat, M€ & TR
The Production phase happens after all players have passed for the generation. It resets the economy for the next generation.
What happens first?
Before producing new resources, move all remaining energy resources to your heat resource box. This is why unused energy can still contribute toward raising temperature later.
How do you produce resources?
For steel, titanium, plants, energy and heat, add resources equal to the number shown on that resource’s production track.
How does M€ production work?
Your MegaCredit income is:
M€ production + your current Terraform Rating (TR).
That combined amount is added to the M€ you already have.
Can M€ production be negative?
Yes. M€ production can fall below zero, subject to the limits in the rules. You still add your TR to that production value during the Production phase.
Does TR produce anything besides M€?
During production, TR contributes directly to your M€ income. It also counts as victory points at the end of the game.
Do resource cubes disappear between generations?
No. Steel, titanium, plants, heat and M€ remain in your supply unless spent. Only energy automatically converts to heat before new production.
When does the first Production phase happen?
After the first generation’s Action phase. Standard setup gives starting production as specified by the rules, but production itself happens at the normal end-of-generation timing.
