How to Play Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest – Characters, Loot & Voyages
Libertalia: Winds of Galecrest is a simultaneous-selection hand-management game. Every player owns the same 40 numbered characters, but only part of that deck enters each game, so the challenge is predicting when rivals will use the same tools you have.
Three voyages: 4, 5 and 6 days
The game lasts three voyages. Voyage 1 lasts 4 days, Voyage 2 lasts 5 and Voyage 3 lasts 6. Before each voyage, every player adds the same six randomly selected character cards to their hand and gains starting doubloons based on reputation.
Each day, choose one character secretly
All players select a character from hand and reveal simultaneously. Arrange revealed characters from lowest to highest rank. If identical characters were played, reputation determines their order.
Daytime resolves low rank to high rank
Starting with the leftmost/lowest-ranked character, resolve every daytime ability in order. Some abilities gain doubloons, manipulate reputation, move loot or interfere with other characters.
Dusk resolves high rank to low rank
Starting from the highest-ranked character, each eligible player claims one loot token from the current day, resolves dusk abilities on the character/loot as required, then moves the character into their ship.
Night abilities can repeat
At night, every character in your ship with a night ability can activate, not only the character played that day. A strong early night character can therefore generate value across several days of the same voyage.
End of voyage: anchors, score and cleanup
After the final night, resolve anchor abilities, add your current doubloons to your score dial, then discard voyage doubloons, loot and characters in your ship as instructed. Unplayed cards stay in hand for the next voyage.
After voyage 3, highest wealth wins
Compare score dials after the final voyage. Highest score wins; reputation breaks ties.
