How to Play Jenga: Setup, Legal Blocks, Stacking & Winning
Jenga starts with 54 wooden blocks arranged as an 18-story tower.
Build the tower
Make layers of three blocks. Each new layer runs at right angles to the one below it. The stacking sleeve can be used to help build the starting tower.
Who goes first?
Under the Hasbro rules, the player who built the tower takes the first turn. Play then passes to the left.
Remove one block
Use only one hand. Remove one block from anywhere below the highest completed story. You may touch blocks to find a loose one.
If you disturb another block
If you move a block out of place while testing it, fix that block using one hand before touching another block.
Stack the block on top
Place the removed block on the highest level at right angles to the blocks below. Finish a three-block story before beginning a higher one.
When does the turn end?
Your turn ends 10 seconds after you stack the block, or as soon as the next player touches a block.
Winning
Keep playing until someone topples the tower. The last player to complete a stack without toppling it wins.
