How to Play Dorfromantik: The Board Game – Tiles, Tasks & Campaign
Dorfromantik: The Board Game is a cooperative landscape-building campaign. The group creates one shared map, completes resident tasks and tries to improve a shared score from game to game.
Scope: original Dorfromantik: The Board Game, not Sakura, The Duel, South Seas or Light Luggage.
Prepare landscape and task tiles
Shuffle the base landscape tiles and task tiles as directed by the current rulebook. Keep campaign boxes closed until the campaign pad explicitly tells you to open them.
Take turns placing one hex tile
Place the drawn tile adjacent to at least one existing tile. Landscape edges do not all need to match, but rivers and railways must continue legally and cannot end against incompatible edges.
Task tiles create numbered goals
Task tiles show a landscape type and receive a task marker. The group tries to build a connected feature containing the required amount of that landscape before closing it off.
Complete a task by closing the feature at the right size
When the relevant forest, village or field is completed, compare its size with the task marker. If the requirement is met, score the task marker; otherwise the task is lost under the rulebook’s completion rules.
Roads and railways remain open networks
The group also wants long continuous route features. End-game scoring rewards the longest qualifying river and railway/track according to the current scoring sheet and unlocked campaign rules.
Flags and later campaign content add scoring
Unlocked components can add Flags and other objectives. Follow each new component’s rule insert and add its points on the score sheet only once it has been unlocked.
Game ends when the tile supply is exhausted
When no legal next tile remains in the prepared supply, total the cooperative score, record it on the campaign pad and unlock campaign achievements/components when thresholds are reached.
