♟1–6 Players◷30–60 Minutes♜Ages 8+⚙Light–Medium◆Cooperative Campaign

Draw and place hexagonal landscape tiles together to create one shared countryside of forests, villages, rivers, railways and fields.

Task tiles set goals for connected landscape features, and campaign achievements unlock new components as the group improves its score across sessions.

Why We Love It

Dorfromantik turns tile placement into a cooperative optimization puzzle. The campaign structure gradually adds new content, so the group’s landscape-building decisions evolve without changing the core rules dramatically.

What is Dorfromantik: The Board Game?

Dorfromantik: The Board Game is Michael Palm and Lukas Zach’s cooperative adaptation of the landscape-building video game. Pegasus lists the English edition for 1–6 players, ages 8+, with a 30–60 minute duration.

The base box includes a replayable campaign with hidden content that gradually expands the game.

How the game works

Players take turns adding hexagonal landscape tiles to one shared map. Task tiles ask the group to complete features such as forests, villages, fields, rivers or railways at specified sizes.

Completed tasks, long rivers and railways, flags and other unlocked objectives contribute to a shared score. Campaign progress opens sealed boxes that add new tiles and rules.

The decisions that define it

Every tile affects multiple future possibilities. A placement that completes one task can make another corridor harder to extend, so the group must balance immediate points against keeping the landscape flexible.

Because everyone builds the same map, table discussion is central without requiring hidden information.

Who is it for?

Choose Dorfromantik if you want a calm cooperative spatial puzzle with low conflict, solo support and gradual campaign progression.

Choose Cascadia for competitive personal landscapes or Forbidden Island for a more urgent cooperative challenge.
