Lost Ruins of Arnak Guardian & Fear Rules
A Guardian appears whenever a player discovers a new Site in Lost Ruins of Arnak. It creates no immediate penalty, but it can add Fear when archaeologists return at round end.
When does a Guardian appear?
After you discover and resolve a new Site, reveal a Guardian and place it on that Site.
Does a Guardian block the Site?
No. Archaeologists may still dig at a Site that has a Guardian.
When do you gain Fear?
At the end of the round, gain 1 Fear card for each archaeologist returning from a Site that still has a Guardian.
How do you overcome a Guardian?
As your main action, if your archaeologist is on that Guardian’s Site, pay the resource cost printed at the bottom of the Guardian tile. Remove it from the board and keep it beside your player board.
What is a Guardian boon?
After overcoming a Guardian, its boon may be used once during the game as a free action. Using the boon does not remove the Guardian from your scoring area.
How many points is a Guardian worth?
Each Guardian you overcame is worth 5 points at final scoring whether or not you used its boon.
What does a Fear card do?
A Fear card has no normal card effect, but it has a boot travel value. Each Fear card is worth -1 point at final scoring.
