Memory Matching Pairs, Extra Turn & Setup Rules Explained
The key to Memory is that card locations stay fixed until a pair is successfully claimed.
What counts as a match?
A pair is two cards showing the same picture. Matching cards are removed from the layout and kept by the player who found them.
Does a match give another turn?
Under standard Memory play, yes. A player who finds a matching pair keeps it and immediately takes another turn.
What happens after a miss?
Turn the two non-matching cards face down again in the same places so all players can use the information later.
Do you have to use all 72 cards?
The 04664 box contains 72 cards, but for younger players you can reduce the number of pairs used in a learning game, then add more pairs as familiarity improves.
Solo play
Hasbro lists the game for one or more players. In solo play, the natural objective is to find all pairs while trying to remember positions efficiently.
