How to Play Mysterium 2025: Ghost Visions, Psychics & Seven Rounds
Mysterium is an asymmetric cooperative deduction game. One player is the ghost and communicates only through surreal Vision cards; every other player is a psychic trying to identify a suspect, location and object tied to their personal investigation.
Edition scope. This guide follows Libellud’s refreshed 2025 base edition, which updates components and streamlines setup. Expansion content is excluded.
The ghost secretly assigns investigation trails
Behind the screen, the ghost knows which Character, Location and Object each psychic must identify. Psychics see the public candidate cards but not the hidden assignments.
The ghost gives Vision cards
For each psychic, the ghost selects one or more Vision cards intended to suggest the current target. The ghost cannot verbally explain the imagery or confirm interpretations outside the rule structure.
Psychics discuss and make individual choices
Psychics may talk openly about the images, but each psychic follows their own investigation trail. Place the intuition marker on the candidate you believe matches your visions.
Correct guesses advance to the next category
A psychic who identifies the correct Character progresses to Location, then Object. A failed guess stays on the same stage and receives additional vision information in later rounds as directed by the rules.
The investigation lasts at most seven rounds
All psychics must complete their Character, Location and Object trails before the seven-round clock expires. If any psychic fails to complete the investigation in time, the group loses.
Then resolve the final culprit phase
The completed psychic trails become possible case solutions. The ghost provides the final vision information under the refreshed rules, and the group must identify the true combination to win.
