Keyflower Strategy: Worker Colors, Auctions & Village Efficiency
Editorial analysis: In Keyflower, worker color is part of the price. A tile won with three workers can still be expensive if those were the only workers able to activate your best engine.
Preserve rare colors
Green workers are less common and hidden worker colors create uncertainty. Do not reveal or commit scarce colors casually when they may control a critical auction later.
Bid by marginal value, not emotional ownership
A village tile is worth only what it adds to your production, network or scoring. Let opponents overpay when the same action can be accessed from their village later.
Use opponents’ tiles when ownership is unnecessary
Keyflower explicitly lets you activate rival tiles. If you need a production action only once or twice, paying workers for activation can be cheaper than winning the tile at auction.
Build short transport chains
Resources appear on specific tiles and must move to upgrade locations. Compact villages reduce the transport actions needed to convert production into upgraded tiles.
Winter tiles should shape autumn
Once likely winter scoring conditions are known, use autumn to accumulate the resources, workers, connections or sets those tiles reward rather than building a general engine that will not score.
