Concordia

Expand a Roman trading network, produce and trade goods, and improve your action deck while scoring through the personality cards you acquire.

♟2–5 Players◷45–90 Minutes♜Ages 14+⚙Medium◆Economic Network

Expand houses across a Roman map, produce and trade goods, and use personality cards to take actions.

Played cards remain unavailable until you use the Tribune to recover your hand, so timing card cycles matters. The same personality cards also determine end-game scoring categories.

Why We Love It

Concordia rewards planning without hiding the action system behind randomness. Your hand is your action menu, and buying new personality cards simultaneously expands that menu and changes how you score.

What is Concordia?

Concordia is Mac Gerdts’ economic strategy game for 2–5 players. Players expand colonists across the Roman Empire, build houses in cities and produce goods through province activations.

Instead of rolling dice, each turn is driven by choosing one card from your hand. New personality cards expand your action options and also determine how you score at the end.

How the game works

Cards such as Architect, Prefect, Mercator and Senator control movement, production, trading and card acquisition. Played cards remain out of your hand until you use the Tribune to recover them.

Building in cities creates access to province production, while goods fund expansion and new cards. The map becomes more expensive as opponents occupy cities, so timing and route efficiency matter.

The decisions that define it

The core tension is that cards are both actions and end-game scoring multipliers. Buying a personality card can strengthen your turn cycle while also changing which assets you want to accumulate.

You also need to watch opponents because province production and city occupancy create shared economic pressure without direct combat.

Who is it for?

Choose Concordia if you want a medium-weight economic game with deterministic action selection, long-term planning and little output randomness.

Consider Brass: Birmingham for more resource interdependence or Ticket to Ride for a much lighter network game.
