Acquire Merger & Final Scoring: Bonuses, Stocks and Game End
Acquire’s largest money swings occur at mergers and at final liquidation. The current Renegade edition supports Classic Mode and Tycoon Mode, so stockholder-bonus details should be read from the side of the reference card used by your group.
Determine the acquired chain before adding the merger tile
Compare the sizes of the connected hotel chains. The smaller chain is acquired by the larger one. The merger tile itself does not increase either chain’s size when determining which survives.
Reveal stock holdings in the acquired chain
Players reveal exactly how many shares they own. Rank stockholders and pay the primary, secondary—and in Tycoon Mode, tertiary—bonuses using the current stockholder information card.
Ties split bonuses according to the mode
Classic and Tycoon Mode handle some tied positions differently. Use the rulebook’s tie procedure rather than simply splitting each printed bonus independently.
Then resolve each player’s acquired shares
Eligible shares may be sold back to the bank at the acquired chain’s current stock price, traded for survivor shares at the legal ratio, or retained for a future refounding of that hotel chain.
Game-end conditions
A player may announce the game end during their turn when all active hotel chains are safe or when one active chain has reached at least 41 tiles. The player may decline to end the game and continue instead.
Final scoring liquidates every active chain
After the final turn, pay stockholder bonuses for every active hotel chain. Then all players sell all stock in active chains back to the bank at the current value. Shares in chains not on the board are worth nothing.
Most money wins
Add all cash after final liquidation. The current Renegade rules treat equal final cash totals as a shared victory.
