Everdell is more compact
Your city is capped at 15 cards, and most decisions revolve around collecting resources, claiming worker spaces and finding Critter/Construction combinations.
Ark Nova has more interlocking systems
Each action card changes position after use, so timing affects future action strength. You also manage enclosure space, reputation, animals, Sponsors, Association tasks, conservation projects and two separate scoring tracks.
Interaction
Everdell’s shared worker spaces can be blocked directly, and the Meadow is a common card market. Ark Nova has less hard blocking, although Association spaces, conservation projects and the card row still create competition.
Expansion ecosystems
Everdell has a broad modular expansion line with side boards, weather, visitors, player powers and solo content. Ark Nova’s line is smaller and more focused, led by Marine Worlds and map packs.
Which fits your group?
- Everdell: better for medium-weight sessions, worker placement and compact card-city combos.
- Ark Nova: better for players who want a longer, denser optimization game with spatial planning.
