7 Wonders Military Conflict Rules: Shields, Victory Tokens & Ties

In 7 Wonders, military strength comes mainly from shield symbols. You do not fight during normal card drafting; conflicts resolve at the end of each Age.

When are military conflicts resolved?

At the end of each Age, compare your total shield strength separately with the player on your left and the player on your right.

What happens if you have more shields?

You receive the Military Victory token for that Age against that neighbor.

What happens if you have fewer shields?

You receive a Military Defeat token for that conflict.

What happens on a tie?

If both cities have the same military strength, neither player takes a token for that conflict.

Does each player fight every other player?

No. In the base game, you resolve military conflicts only against your two neighboring cities.

Can you fight the same neighbor twice in one Age?

No. Repos Production’s FAQ confirms there is only one Military Conflict between the same two players in each Age.

Are military points worth the same every Age?

No. Victory tokens become more valuable in later Ages, so military timing matters. Defeat tokens remain negative points.

Can military win the game immediately?

Not in standard 7 Wonders. Military contributes victory points at final scoring. The instant military-supremacy condition belongs to 7 Wonders Duel, which is a separate game.
