7 Wonders Scoring Explained: Science, Military, Coins & Guilds

7 Wonders scores after Age III by adding Wonder-stage points, treasure, military tokens, Civil buildings, Commercial buildings with end-game points, Science, and Guilds. Science is the category most often miscounted because identical symbols and complete sets score at the same time.

Score every category separately

  • Wonder: add victory points printed on completed Wonder stages.
  • Treasure: 1 point for every complete set of 3 coins.
  • Military: add victory tokens and subtract defeat tokens.
  • Civil buildings: add the printed points on blue cards.
  • Commercial buildings: score yellow cards that explicitly award end-game points.
  • Science: score identical-symbol squares plus complete sets.
  • Guilds: score each purple card according to its printed end-game condition.

Science uses two calculations

For each of the three base science symbols, square the number you have. One symbol is worth 1, two are worth 4, three are worth 9 and four are worth 16. Then add 7 points for every complete set containing one of each of the three different symbols.

Example: two tablets, two compasses and one gear score 4 + 4 + 1 for identical symbols, plus 7 for one complete set, for 16 science points.

Military tokens are already the score

At the end of each Age, compare shields with both neighbors. Victory tokens are worth +1 in Age I, +3 in Age II and +5 in Age III. Every defeat token is −1. At final scoring, add those token values directly; do not score total shields again.

Coins score in groups of three

Every complete set of 3 coins is worth 1 point. Remainder coins do not score by themselves, although total coins matter for the first tiebreaker.

Worked final total

Suppose you finish with 9 Wonder points, 4 treasure points, 7 military points, 22 Civil points, 6 Commercial points, 16 Science points and 8 Guild points. Your final score is 9 + 4 + 7 + 22 + 6 + 16 + 8 = 72.

Do not add resource production, unused building capacity or unbuilt Wonder stages unless a card or stage explicitly scores them.

Ties compare coins

If final scores tie, the tied player with more coins wins. If the tied players also have the same number of coins, they share victory.
