How to Play Black Forest: Resource Wheels, Villages & Glass
Black Forest is an economic development game built around two resource wheels. Instead of storing unlimited piles, your production capacity changes as resources move around the wheels.
Scope: Capstone base game.
Travel between villages
Move your figure to village spaces and use available tradespeople to collect, transform or spend resources.
Manage two resource wheels
Your wheels track several resources and production relationships. Gaining or spending one resource can change future production capacity for another.
Build ponds and fields
Farm development improves recurring production and supports livestock, food and other construction needs.
Construct buildings
Buildings provide immediate effects, ongoing powers and end-game scoring conditions. Their resource costs compete with production upgrades.
Raise livestock
Animals support resource production and can contribute to building requirements or scoring plans.
Produce glass
Glass is a high-value output that requires coordinated resource conversion. Timing production efficiently is important because wheel capacity can be wasted when resources overflow or sit unused.
Endgame
When the base-game end condition is reached, score buildings, estate development and the remaining categories specified by the rulebook.
