How to Play Fields of Arle: Seasons, Farming & Travel
Fields of Arle is a two-player farming and trade game with separate summer and winter action spaces.
Scope: Lookout base game; Tea & Trade excluded.
Summer and winter actions
Players alternate placing workers on spaces available in the current season. When the season changes, a different half of the action board becomes available.
Develop the landscape
Drain moors, build dikes and convert land into fields, pastures or other productive spaces.
Raise livestock
Animals occupy farm spaces and can be bred, traded or converted through buildings and actions.
Grow and process goods
Produce grain, flax and other materials, then use craft actions and buildings to convert them into higher-value goods.
Construct buildings
Buildings provide production, storage, conversion, special actions and scoring.
Vehicles and travel
Load goods onto vehicles and travel to destinations for points and economic benefits.
Season-end production
Resolve feeding, breeding and production according to the current half-year sequence.
Game end
After the final season, score farm development, buildings, travel, livestock, goods and other base-game categories.
