Frosthaven Outpost Phase: Buildings, Events, Attacks & Construction
The Outpost Phase is Frosthaven’s settlement-management sequence between qualifying scenarios. It is not a free-form downtime period: the phases occur in a fixed order, and that order matters because events or attacks can change the settlement before construction happens.
Spoiler-light guide. This page explains only the public structure of the Outpost Phase and avoids sealed building effects and story reveals.
1. Passage of time
Advance the campaign calendar as directed. Resolve entries whose timing has arrived. Calendar instructions can unlock sections, events or other campaign effects, so check them before assuming the settlement state is unchanged.
2. Outpost event
Draw and resolve the appropriate outpost event when instructed. The available event deck changes with the campaign and seasons, so event consequences can differ substantially over time.
3. Outpost attack, when one occurs
Some events trigger attacks against Frosthaven. Resolve the attack using the settlement’s defense and the attack rules. Buildings may be damaged or otherwise affected, and resources can sometimes be committed to defense according to the current rules and campaign state.
4. Building operations
Available buildings perform their normal operational effects. Depending on the buildings the party has unlocked, this can involve crafting, purchasing, resource generation, training or other settlement services.
5. Construction and upgrades
Spend the required materials and gold/resources to construct a new building or upgrade an existing one, subject to prosperity and blueprint requirements. Construction choices affect what services and recipes are available in later weeks.
Because attacks happen before construction in the sequence, you cannot assume a building you plan to upgrade will remain undamaged through the phase. Resolve the earlier steps first.
Resources are shared strategically, not interchangeably
Wood, metal and hide have different construction and crafting uses. Herbs feed alchemy systems. Gold has separate spending roles. Check the exact recipe/building cost before converting or allocating resources, because one material surplus does not automatically replace another shortage.
The outpost is persistent
Unlike a scenario map, the settlement does not reset after each session. Buildings, damage, upgrades, prosperity, campaign calendar entries and unlocked services all persist, which is why outpost decisions can matter several scenarios later.
