How to Play Isle of Skye: Tile Pricing, Buying & Clan Building

Isle of Skye combines tile placement with a player-driven market. Every round you draw landscape tiles, secretly discard one, price the others and then decide whether to buy a rival’s tile.

Scope: base game only; Journeyman and Druids expansions are excluded.

1. Income

Gain income from your castle and qualifying features/effects. Later rounds can also include catch-up income based on relative score position under the base rules.

2. Draw three landscape tiles

Take three tiles behind your player screen. Secretly place the axe marker on one tile, which will be discarded, and assign a coin price to each of the other two tiles using your own money.

3. Reveal prices and discard the axed tile

All players reveal simultaneously. The axed tile is removed from the current market; the other two are available for opponents to buy.

4. Buy one tile from another player

In turn order, each player may buy at most one available tile from another player by paying the listed price to that player. You cannot buy your own tile.

5. Pay for your unsold tiles

For each of your priced tiles that nobody bought, you must pay the price you set from your own supply. The coins used to set that price are part of the payment mechanism under the rules.

6. Add acquired tiles to your clan territory

Place every tile you acquired this round adjacent to your existing territory, matching terrain edges correctly. Roads do not need to match, but terrain types do.

7. Score the active scoring tiles

Each round activates a specific combination of the four public scoring tiles. Score all active objectives, plus any scrolls/end-game elements at the appropriate time.
