Everdell Hand Limit Rules: 8 Cards, Drawing & Giving Cards
Everdell has a maximum hand size of 8 cards. The limit affects drawing, receiving cards and several card effects.
Can you draw above 8 cards?
No. If an effect would make you draw cards beyond 8, draw only as many as you can legally hold unless the effect explicitly instructs otherwise.
What if your hand is already full?
If you have 8 cards, you cannot draw another card simply to discard it immediately. The Everdell FAQ uses this principle for effects that draw from the Meadow.
Can you draw a card and immediately play it to bypass the limit?
Only if the effect’s timing allows the play after a legal draw. If your hand is already at 8, you cannot make the draw in the first place merely because you intend to play the card afterward.
What if another player must give you cards?
When possible, they must choose a recipient who has room for all cards being given. You do not intentionally force excess cards onto a full hand just to discard them.
Does the Meadow count as your hand?
No. Meadow cards are a shared display. The 8-card limit applies to cards in your hand.
Do played cards count toward the hand limit?
No. Once played into your city, they are no longer in your hand.
