How to Play SETI: Probes, Scanning, Data & Alien Life

SETI: Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence is a science-themed eurogame about combining probe missions, telescope scanning, data analysis and technology development while hidden alien species enter the game.

Scope: Czech Games Edition base game; Space Agencies excluded.

Take one main action at a time

Players alternate actions by spending resources and card effects. The available routes include probe operations, scanning, card play and technology development.

Launch and move probes

Send probes into the rotating Solar System. Distances change as the system rotates, so timing can make a destination cheaper or more expensive.

Orbit or land

Probes can reach planets and moons for orbit or landing rewards, samples and mission progress.

Scan distant star systems

The telescope path lets you scan sectors beyond the Solar System, place markers and collect data from promising signals.

Analyze data

Data collected through probes and scanning can be converted into progress, rewards and discoveries under the analysis system.

Develop technologies

Technology upgrades improve efficiency in probes, scanning, cards and other systems, often making later actions cheaper or stronger.

Discover alien species

Alien species are revealed during play. Each species introduces new cards, mechanisms and scoring opportunities for the remainder of the game.

Endgame

After the final round/end trigger, score missions, alien research, probes, scanning and the other base-game categories.
