Rebirth Scotland Scoring: Farms, Settlements, Castles & Missions

Rebirth’s Scotland map scores many farm and settlement points during play, then adds incomplete-settlement values, 5 points per controlled castle and achieved private missions at the end.

Farm tiles score when placed

An energy or food farm tile scores the size of the connected cluster of your own color and matching farm type after the placement. If a new tile joins two groups, score the newly merged cluster once.

Example: groups of two and three are joined by one new food tile. The resulting cluster has six tiles, so the placement scores 6 points.

Castles score at the end

Castle control is determined by occupied adjacent hexes. Control can change during the game. Each castle you control at final scoring is worth 5 points; do not score those five points each time control changes.

Private missions are checked at the finish

Add points from private missions whose exact conditions you have achieved. Merely visiting a cathedral gives you the mission; it does not guarantee the mission’s points.

Final scoring

After all available tiles have been placed, add your own tiles in incomplete settlements, controlled-castle points and completed private missions to the score already accumulated during play.

Scotland’s tiebreak is unusual

If leaders tie, control of Edinburgh breaks the tie in favor of a tied leader. If none of the tied leaders controls Edinburgh, the current rules name the controller of Stirling as winner, even if that player was not one of the original tied leaders.
