Scythe Star & Game End Rules: 6 Stars, Immediate Finish & Scoring

Standard Scythe ends immediately when a player places their sixth star. Stars are milestones, but they are not themselves the only determinant of who wins.

How many stars do you have?

Each faction normally has six star tokens available to place on the Triumph Track.

Common ways to earn stars

Standard star categories include completing all upgrades, deploying all mechs, building all structures, enlisting all recruits, deploying all workers, completing an objective, winning combat, reaching maximum power and reaching maximum popularity.

Can you lose a star?

No. Once a star has been placed, it stays placed even if the underlying condition later changes—for example, if your popularity falls below the threshold that originally earned the star.

How many combat stars can you earn?

Most factions can place at most two stars for combat victories. Some faction abilities change normal star restrictions.

What happens at the sixth star?

The game ends immediately when the sixth star is placed. You do not finish the remainder of that turn under the standard game-end rule.

Does the player with six stars automatically win?

No. Final wealth is measured in coins. End-game scoring converts stars, controlled territories and resource pairs into coins according to your popularity tier, then adds other applicable scoring such as the structure bonus.

Why popularity matters

Higher popularity increases how many coins your stars, territories and resource pairs are worth. A player can trigger the ending with six stars and still lose to a richer opponent.
