Anachrony Strategy: Exosuits, Time Travel & Impact Timing

Anachrony rewards plans that connect three systems instead of optimizing them separately: worker placement, time travel and the Impact clock. The strongest turns usually begin one phase earlier than they appear, when you decide how many Exosuits to power and which workers you want available.

1. Power Exosuits for specific actions

Do not treat Exosuits as generic action capacity. Before the Power Up phase, identify the capital actions you are most likely to need. If you expect to Construct and Recruit, power enough suits for those actions and keep the right worker types active. Extra powered suits that never reach the main board are expensive dead weight.

2. Match worker types to your plan

Worker bonuses matter. Engineers, Scientists and Administrators can make particular actions more efficient, while Geniuses offer flexibility. Recruiting should therefore solve a future action problem rather than simply increase worker count.

3. Use Warp as acceleration, not permanent income

Warping a resource or worker forward can unlock an important building, Superproject or action several turns earlier. That tempo can be valuable. The danger is stacking too many unresolved Warp tiles and then spending later Eras repairing the timeline instead of developing your engine.

A useful rule of thumb is to borrow for a concrete payoff: an early engine building, a critical resource threshold or a timing-sensitive action. Avoid borrowing merely because the option is available.

4. Build a route back through time

Time travel is strongest when it is planned alongside Warp. Power Plants and related effects let you move Focus into earlier Eras and repay pending assets. Successfully removing a Warp tile through time travel also advances the Time Travel track, creating another source of end-game value.

If you intend to Warp repeatedly, make sure your economy can also generate the assets needed to send those resources or workers back.

5. Prioritize buildings with repeated value

Early buildings should generally improve multiple future turns: resource production, worker efficiency, time-travel access or action compression. A building that saves one Water or one action every Era can outperform a flashy one-time benefit if it enters play early enough.

6. Coordinate Research with Superprojects

Research is most valuable when it has a destination. Watch the available Superprojects and collect breakthroughs that open something you realistically intend to construct. Randomly accumulating research without a build plan can leave points and resources stranded.

7. Prepare for Impact before it happens

The Impact is not just a rules event; it is a strategic deadline. Capital access becomes more constrained and Evacuation enters the game. Before Impact, make sure your economy can function even if a preferred action space becomes harder to use.

You should also know your Path’s Evacuation requirement well in advance. If the condition needs specific buildings, workers, research or other assets, begin assembling them before the late game becomes crowded.

8. Do not Evacuate automatically at the first opportunity

Evacuation is once per game. Going early can secure a better timing window, but your score may improve if you delay and build more of the asset your Path rewards. Compare the points you gain now with the actions and resources required to improve that score later.

9. Watch action-space competition

Main-board spaces are limited. If another player clearly needs the same Construct, Recruit or Research action, turn order can matter more than a small efficiency gain. Taking a scarce action before completing a personal-board setup move is often correct.

10. Convert the final Era into points

Late in the game, stop investing in engines that will not trigger enough times to repay their cost. Shift resources toward victory-point buildings, Superprojects, Time Travel progress, Evacuation value and end-game conditions.

Common strategic mistakes

  • Powering every affordable Exosuit without mapping actual actions.
  • Warping repeatedly with no plan to remove the tiles.
  • Recruiting workers that do not fit upcoming capital actions.
  • Researching breakthroughs that do not support a realistic Superproject.
  • Preparing for Evacuation only after Impact.
  • Building a late engine instead of converting resources into points.
