Apiary Strategy: Worker Strength, Bumping & Hive Efficiency

Editorial analysis: A strong bee is a temporary asset. Spending a high-strength worker on a mediocre action wastes both action efficiency and remaining lifespan.

Use weak bees where bumping helps you

A low-strength worker in a contested space can be useful if an opponent’s bump returns it stronger.

Reserve strong bees for threshold actions

Take high-power actions where strength unlocks materially better rewards.

Build hive tiles around your faction power

Choose tiles whose resource and scoring effects reinforce the asymmetry you already have.

Explore with a resource plan

Reveal planets when their likely rewards feed hive construction, advancement or a scoring objective.

Hibernation should produce value, not surprise

Track which bees are near the end of their cycle and plan the final strong action before they hibernate.

Late Flow: score now

Stop adding slow engine tiles when there are too few placements left. Convert workers into track progress, final hive patterns and direct VP.
