Great Western Trail 2e Scoring: All 11 Final Categories

Great Western Trail: Second Edition uses an 11-category final scorepad. Almost all VP are counted only after the job-market end trigger and every other player’s final turn.

Second Edition guide. Checked September 20, 2026 against the current Lookout/Asmodee Second Edition rules structure.

End trigger: job market token leaves the market

When Kansas City refilling places a worker on the last market space and pushes the job-market token out, the triggering player takes that token and finishes the Kansas City sequence. Every other player receives one final turn.

The 11 scoring categories

  1. Money: 1 VP for every $5 you own.
  2. Private buildings: add the VP printed on your buildings on the board.
  3. City crests: add positive and negative VP unlocked by your delivery discs.
  4. Train stations: add VP next to stations where you placed a disc.
  5. Hazards: add VP printed on collected hazard tiles.
  6. Cattle: add VP printed on cattle cards anywhere in your deck, hand and discard.
  7. Objective cards: score completed played objectives and subtract penalties from unfulfilled committed objectives; decide how to handle objectives still in the deck as the rules allow.
  8. Station Master tiles: score each tile’s individual end-game task.
  9. Workers: 4 VP for each worker on the fifth or sixth space of any worker row.
  10. Cleared player-board space: 3 VP if you cleared the specified disc space.
  11. Job market token: 2 VP for the player who triggered the end and took it.

Station Master tiles use their own tasks

These tiles can score workers, Objective cards, hazards, outlaw pairs, certificates, station discs or private buildings depending on the tile. Their requirements are independent of Objective-card requirements.

Tie rule
