Cartographers Scoring Explained: Edicts, Coins & Monster Penalties

Cartographers scores four times—once after each season. Two public scoring cards are active each season, while coins add reputation and exposed monster borders subtract it.

Spring: score A and B

Calculate the scoring conditions assigned to edicts A and B. Record those points on the spring line of the map sheet.

Summer: score B and C

Recalculate B from your larger summer map and score C for the first time.

Autumn: score C and D

Score C again and add the first score for D.

Winter: score D and A

The final season scores D a second time and returns to A. Every public scoring card therefore contributes in exactly two seasons.

Add coin reputation each season

Count the coin boxes you have marked by that season. Coins remain active for later seasons, so an early coin can contribute repeatedly.

Subtract monster penalties

Count empty orthogonally adjacent spaces around monster squares as defined by the rules and subtract the resulting penalty for that season.

Final reputation is the sum of all four seasons

Add spring, summer, autumn and winter reputation. Highest total wins.
