How to Play Carnegie: Departments, Employees & Networks
Carnegie is an economic eurogame where the active player chooses one action type and every player may activate matching departments. The challenge is preparing your company before the table selects the action you want.
Twenty rounds
The game lasts 20 action selections. Each round, the active player chooses one of the four action types and moves the timeline marker accordingly.
Activate matching departments
Every player may activate departments of the selected type. Employees in those departments perform the printed actions and can create resources, projects, network links or company development.
Move employees between departments
Employees are your action capacity. Internal movement lets you prepare the company so the right workers are standing in the departments likely to activate next.
Send employees on missions
Some actions send employees to regions outside your company. They can contribute to projects and later return during income events with money or other benefits.
Build projects and transportation links
Projects establish presence in cities and regions. Transportation links connect them into networks and can improve final scoring.
Make donations
Donations cost money and claim unique end-game scoring criteria. Each donation creates a personal scoring rule that rewards a specific part of your company or network.
Final scoring
After the 20th round, score completed projects, transportation network, company development, money and all donations.
