Boggle Word Scoring & Valid Word Rules Explained
Boggle scoring rewards words that are both valid and unique.
Minimum word length
Standard Boggle uses words of at least three letters.
How letters may connect
Each next letter must come from a neighboring cube, including diagonals. You may not use the same cube twice in one word.
Duplicate words
If more than one player has the same word, it is removed from scoring for those players.
Classic scoring table
- 3–4 letters: 1 point
- 5 letters: 2 points
- 6 letters: 3 points
- 7 letters: 5 points
- 8+ letters: 11 points
Plural and related words
Different valid word forms can score separately when they are genuinely different words and each can be traced legally in the grid.
