Pictionary Drawing Restrictions & All Play Rules Explained
Current Mattel Pictionary keeps the clue communication visual and gives All Play spaces a separate race format.
What is not allowed while drawing?
The current rules prohibit using letters or numbers, speaking to teammates, sign language and acting/miming. They also prohibit an “ear” signal for “sounds like” and blank dashes showing the number of letters.
What is allowed?
You may draw something related to the clue rather than the literal answer, break a clue into syllable-style components, use a homophone-style visual route and use arrows.
Can the Picturist change?
Yes—under the current rules, the team must change Picturist each time it uses a new clue.
How does All Play work?
Both teams secretly receive the same All Play clue and draw at the same time. The first team to guess correctly wins the All Play and gains the movement/turn benefit specified by the rules.
How does the final space work?
The finish is an All Play space. A team reaching it must still win the final All Play during its own turn to win the game.
