The White Castle
Use just nine turns to draft dice, place courtiers, gardeners and warriors around Himeji Castle, and chain resource conversions into compact scoring combinations.
Draft dice from bridges and place them in Himeji Castle locations to gain resources and activate actions.
Courtiers, gardeners and warriors create different scoring paths, while resource conversions and bonus actions let efficient turns chain together.
Why We Love It
The White Castle compresses a dense engine into only nine turns. Dice value, location bonuses and chained actions make each placement potentially much larger than a single move.

What is The White Castle?
The White Castle is a 2023 strategy game by Isra C. and Shei S. for 1–4 players. Devir lists a 60-minute play time and worker placement as one of its core mechanisms.
The game compresses its economy into only three rounds, with three turns per player in each round.
How the game works
Dice are arranged on bridges by value. Players draft dice and place them on action spaces around the castle, often receiving resources or triggering linked actions depending on the die and location.
Courtiers move deeper into the castle, gardeners work around pond spaces and warriors train at practice grounds. Resource conversions and lantern rewards can create multi-step turns.
The decisions that define it
With only nine turns, tempo is severe. A small resource inefficiency can cost access to an entire scoring path, while a well-prepared die placement can trigger several connected benefits.
Choosing which die to remove also changes what remains available for opponents, so drafting and action selection are tightly linked.
Who is it for?
Choose The White Castle if you want a compact but demanding euro with dice drafting, worker placement and combo-style turns.
Choose Stone Age for lighter dice-based worker placement or Tzolk’in for a longer timing-focused system.
