The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth
A two-player confrontation inspired by 7 Wonders Duel, with three immediate victory paths: the Ring quest, alliances and control of Middle-earth.
Two players draft cards from an evolving display to gain resources, units, alliances and progress in the struggle over Middle-earth.
There is no need to wait for final scoring if one side achieves the Ring objective, secures enough alliances or dominates enough regions. The multiple victory routes create constant tactical pressure.
Why We Love It
Duel for Middle-earth puts three immediate victory threats on the table at once. Progress on the Ring quest, alliances and regional control can each end the game, so every draft must consider both your plan and the opponent’s closest threat.

What is The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth?
One player controls the Fellowship and the other controls Sauron. The game unfolds over three chapters, with cards and landmarks used to build resources, expand presence across Middle-earth, rally peoples and move the Ring quest.
Repos Production lists it for exactly two players, age 10+, with a 30-minute duration.
How the game works
Each chapter presents a structured card-selection display. On your turn, you take an available card or interact with a High Place, then resolve the effects you gain.
The game can end immediately through one of three paths: win the Quest of the Ring, gain alliances with six different peoples, or dominate Middle-earth through the map-control condition.
The decisions that define it
Because all three victory conditions remain live, a move can be valuable defensively even when it does not support your main plan. Letting an opponent advance too far on the Ring, alliance or territorial track can force you to spend future turns responding.
The best card is therefore context-dependent: economy, symbols, map presence and denial all compete for the same turn.
Who is it for?
Choose Duel for Middle-earth if you want a dedicated two-player strategy game with strong thematic asymmetry and visible race conditions.
