Splendor Duel
A dedicated two-player Splendor game with a shared token grid, pearls, privileges and three different victory conditions.
Two players collect gems and pearls from a shared token grid, reserve cards and buy development cards that provide permanent discounts.
Privileges can interrupt the normal token-taking rhythm, and the game can end through three different victory conditions. That makes denying colors and watching the opponent’s tableau more important than in the original game.
Why We Love It
Splendor Duel keeps the permanent-discount engine of Splendor but makes the shared token supply much more tactical. Taking tokens from a grid can open or deny lines, while three victory conditions force both players to watch several threats at once.

What is Splendor Duel?
Splendor Duel is co-designed by Marc André and Bruno Cathala as a dedicated two-player game in the Splendor line. It keeps gem collection and permanent card bonuses but adds a shared 5×5 token board, pearls, privileges and additional card effects.
It is standalone: you do not need the original Splendor box to play.
How the game works
On a normal turn you perform one main action: take tokens from the common board, purchase a Jewel card, or reserve a card and take gold when available. Token taking follows the board’s line-based restrictions, so each draft changes what remains spatially available.
Instead of one fixed prestige target, the game offers multiple victory conditions. That means an opponent can threaten a finish through different development paths.
The decisions that define it
The shared token grid creates more direct interaction than base Splendor. A token draft can improve your position while also opening or closing lines for the opponent.
Card color, crowns, prestige and permanent discounts all matter, so the value of a purchase depends partly on which victory condition is becoming realistic first.
Who is it for?
Choose Splendor Duel if you like the efficiency puzzle of Splendor but want a tighter game designed specifically for two players.
Choose base Splendor instead when you need support for 3–4 players or prefer its simpler token market and single race toward 15 prestige.
