Inis

Inis explained: draft season cards, move clans, resolve clashes and meet one of three Celtic victory conditions.

♟2–4 Players◷90 Minutes♜Ages 14+⚙Medium–Heavy◆3 Win Paths

Draft a small hand of season cards, then use them to add clans, move across territories, build sanctuaries and trigger conflicts.

Victory can come through leadership over opposing clans, presence across territories or control of sanctuaries, so the strongest position is often the one that threatens more than one condition.

Why We Love It

Inis makes area control less about raw destruction and more about timing. Drafted actions, shared territories and multiple victory conditions reward negotiation and restraint as much as combat.

Rules overview

At the start of each season, draft action cards. Players then take turns playing season cards or passing. Movement can create clashes, where players decide whether to continue fighting, withdraw or reach agreement. At the Assembly, check whether any player meets a victory condition and holds the required advantage.

Key decisions

Editorial analysis: Do not spend every card simply because it creates local value. A card held back can preserve a future threat or stop another player from knowing your remaining options. Position clans where they support more than one victory condition and use clashes only when the outcome improves your overall standing.
