Ark Nova Break Rules: Hand Limit, Income & Association Workers
Ark Nova does not use fixed rounds. Instead, a break happens whenever the Break token reaches the final space of the Break track.
When does the break happen?
If an action or card effect moves the Break token to the final space, finish the current turn first. Then all players resolve the break.
Does extra Break movement carry over?
No. Movement beyond the final Break-track space is ignored.
1. Check hand limits
Each player discards down to their current hand limit. The normal limit is 3 cards, although a university can raise it to 5.
2. Clear temporary Action-card tokens
Return Multiplier, Venom and Constriction tokens on Action cards to the supply.
3. Return Association workers
Association workers on the Association board return to your notepad and become active again. Partner zoos and universities are replenished as required.
4. Refresh the card display
Discard the two lowest-position display cards, slide the remaining cards down and refill the display.
5. Take income
Players receive income from their Appeal track and qualifying zoo effects such as kiosks, sponsor income and other income icons.
What happens to the Break token?
After the break is resolved, return the Break token to its starting space for the current player count and continue the game.
