Caylus 1303 Provost & Endgame Rules: Activation Cutoff and Prestige
The Provost determines how far the road activates each round, making it the most important direct-interaction rule in Caylus 1303.
Buildings after the Provost do not activate
During Activation, resolve occupied buildings in road order only up to the Provost. Workers placed beyond that cutoff are removed later without receiving the building effect.
The Toll and Guilds Bridge can move the Provost
Specific actions move the Provost directly. At the Guilds Bridge, players act in the order they passed and may spend workers to move the Provost forward or backward within the rulebook limits.
Agreements are not binding
Players may discuss and negotiate Provost movement, but the rules do not force anyone to honor an agreement when their bridge turn arrives.
Castle bundles score 5 prestige each
At Delivery, each bundle of three different resources including food awards 5 prestige. The player who delivers the most bundles and at least one earns the round’s Favor, with earlier delivery breaking the tie.
The game lasts exactly nine rounds
Rounds 1–3, 4–6 and 7–9 also expand which construction-site Favor buildings may be chosen. After round 9, there is no extra round or sudden-end trigger.
Final gold conversion
After the last round, reveal prestige totals and add 2 prestige points for each gold resource you still hold.
Highest prestige wins
The player with the most prestige wins. The published rules allow tied players to share the victory.
