Pandemic Win & Loss Conditions: Cures, Outbreaks, Cubes & Deck

Pandemic has one win condition and three independent loss conditions. The team wins immediately when all four diseases have cures. You do not need to eradicate them from the board.

Win: discover all four cures

The game ends immediately in victory once all four diseases are cured. Disease cubes may still remain on the map. Eradication is useful, but it is not required to win.

Cure and eradication are different

A cured disease is easier to treat. A disease is eradicated only when it is cured and no cubes of that color remain anywhere on the board. Eradication prevents new cubes of that color from being placed, but the team does not need four eradications.

Loss 1: the outbreak track reaches the end

If the outbreak marker reaches the final skull space, the team loses immediately.

Loss 2: a required disease cube is unavailable

If the rules require you to place a disease cube and there are none of that color left in the supply, the team loses immediately. It does not matter how many cubes of other colors remain.

Loss 3: you cannot draw two player cards

After actions, the active player must draw two player cards. If fewer than two are available, the team loses. The game does not continue until the deck is completely empty after a partial draw.

There is no point total

Standard Pandemic is a cooperative win/loss game. You do not calculate a final score to decide the winner. Difficulty is adjusted through Epidemic cards rather than a victory-point system.
