How to Play Camel Up: Dice, Stacks, Leg Bets & Race Bets
Camel Up is a betting game where players influence wagers but do not own a camel. The 2018 edition uses five racing camels plus two rogue camels that move in the opposite direction.
On your turn, take one action
- Take a leg-betting ticket for one camel.
- Place or move your spectator tile.
- Place an overall winner or loser bet.
- Take a pyramid ticket and release one die to move a camel.
Camel stacks move together
When a racing camel moves, it carries every camel stacked on top of it. Landing on an occupied space changes the stack order according to the movement rules, so a camel can move several times indirectly in one leg.
Rogue camels move backward
The two rogue camels travel in the opposite direction and can carry/affect racing camel stacks according to the 2018 rules. Their presence makes the visible leader less secure.
A leg ends when all leg dice are used
After the required dice have been released from the pyramid, score leg bets based on the current first/second-place camels and resolve spectator-tile rewards/penalties. Reset for a new leg if the race has not ended.
The race ends when a racing camel crosses the finish line
Resolve the final leg, then score overall winner and loser bets. Earlier correct race bets are worth more than later correct bets.
