Quacks of Quedlinburg Explosion & Scoring Rules Explained

The key Quacks rules question is whether your pot has exploded and what that changes at the end of the round.

Explosion occurs when white-chip value exceeds the safe limit

Add the printed values of all white cherry-bomb chips in your cauldron. Once the total is above the standard safe threshold, the pot explodes and you stop drawing immediately.

Stopping voluntarily avoids explosion

If you stop before crossing the threshold, your pot is safe even if dangerous chips remain in the bag. You keep the normal access to the round rewards.

Your potion position has a VP value and a buying value

Read the next scoring space after your last ingredient. It shows how many points and how much purchasing power your potion generated for that round.

Exploding restricts which rewards you can take

In the standard base game, an exploded pot does not receive the same full combination of scoring and purchasing as a safe pot. Apply the rulebook’s explosion choice before buying ingredients.

Round 9 adds endgame conversion

The final round changes how leftover purchasing power, rubies or other resources can convert into points. Resolve those specific round-9 rules before comparing totals.
