Love Letter Win Conditions: Round End, Card Values & Favor Tokens
Love Letter uses two levels of victory: first win individual rounds, then collect enough favor tokens to win the full match.
A round ends immediately when one player remains
If every opponent has been eliminated, the final surviving player wins the round without waiting for the deck to run out.
If the deck empties, compare remaining Character values
When the draw pile is exhausted with multiple players still active, reveal the cards still in hand. The active player holding the highest Character value wins the round.
Ties use the current-edition tiebreak
If surviving players reveal the same highest value, apply the current rulebook’s tiebreak using the information from cards played/discarded during that round. Keep discard piles visible and attributable until the round winner is resolved.
The round winner gains one favor token
After the winner is determined, award one favor token and reset the Character deck for the next round.
Match victory depends on player count
The current Z-Man edition lists a target number of favor tokens for each player count. The first player to reach that target wins the match. Because the target changes with group size, use the table in the current rulebook rather than carrying a target over from an older edition.
