Sorry! Slides, Bumping & Safety Zone Rules Explained
Slides, bumping and the safety zone are the parts of Sorry! most likely to change what looks like a simple movement card.
When a slide triggers
If exact movement lands your pawn on the triangle at the beginning of a slide that is not your own color, slide all the way to the end.
Who gets bumped on a slide?
Bump every pawn in the slide path back to its own START. The official rules specify that this includes your own pawns.
Your own color slide
If you land on a slide of your own color, do not slide. Stay on the triangle.
Ordinary bumping
If you land by exact count on a space occupied by an opponent, send that pawn back to START. You cannot end on a space occupied by one of your own pawns.
Safety zones
Only you may enter the safety zone matching your color. Opponents cannot enter it.
Backward movement and safety-zone entry
You may not enter your safety zone by a backward move. A pawn already in the zone can move backward out if a card requires it, then later re-enter as normal card movement allows.
Home requires exact count
Move into HOME only by exact count. A pawn that reaches HOME is finished and does not move again.
