Wingspan Scoring Explained: Birds, Eggs, Goals, Bonus Cards & Tucks

Wingspan final scoring adds printed points on played birds, bonus-card points, end-of-round goal points, eggs, cached food and tucked cards. Ordinary unused food in your personal supply does not score, although it breaks a final-score tie.

Six scoring categories

  • Birds: printed victory points on birds in your preserve.
  • Bonus cards: points from completed bonus-card conditions.
  • Round goals: points recorded across the four round goals.
  • Eggs: 1 point per egg remaining on birds.
  • Cached food: 1 point per food token cached on a bird.
  • Tucked cards: 1 point per card tucked beneath a bird.

Food in your general supply is not a normal scoring category. A cached food token is different because the bird card specifically stores it for end-game value.

Played birds score their printed value

Add the victory-point number printed on every bird in your preserve. Birds still in hand do not score their printed value merely because you own them.

Eggs, caches and tucks are each worth one

Count the final physical game state after round 4. Each remaining egg, each cached food token and each tucked card contributes 1 point. Do not also score the printed bird value of a tucked card.

Worked total

Suppose played birds total 38, bonus cards 8, round goals 12, eggs 11, cached food 4 and tucked cards 7. Your final score is 38 + 8 + 12 + 11 + 4 + 7 = 80.

Tie rule: unused food

If final scores tie, the player with more unused food tokens wins. If the tied players also have the same number of unused food tokens, they share victory. The food does not add to the displayed score before a tie exists.
