Terraforming Mars Scoring: TR, Cities, Greenery, Milestones & Awards

Terraforming Mars final scoring starts with your terraform rating, then adds funded Awards, claimed Milestones, greenery tiles, city adjacency points and victory points from played cards.

Researched rules guide. Checked September 20, 2026 against FryxGames’ current base-game rules. Editorial standards.

The game ends after all three global parameters are complete

Oxygen must reach 14%, temperature +8°C and all nine ocean tiles must be placed. Finish the current generation, including production, then resolve the final greenery-placement opportunity before scoring.

Final scoring categories

  • Terraform rating: final TR is your starting victory-point total.
  • Awards: score every funded Award according to the final leaders.
  • Milestones: each claimed Milestone is worth 5 points.
  • Greenery: each owned greenery tile is worth 1 point.
  • Cities: each owned city scores 1 point per adjacent greenery tile, regardless of greenery owner.
  • Cards: add printed/end-game victory points from played projects and resource cards as directed.

Cities score adjacency, not ownership of greenery

A city gains 1 point for every adjacent greenery tile even if another player owns that greenery. The city owner receives the city points; the greenery owner still receives the greenery’s own 1 point separately.

Worked total

Suppose your final TR is 38, Awards add 5, Milestones add 10, greenery adds 7, cities add 12 and cards add 18. Your final score is 90 points.

Tie rule

The player with the highest total wins. The official base rules use remaining M€ as the tiebreaker.
