Look several cards ahead in your own hand
The front card is mandatory, so identify which upcoming bean will force a harvest. Trade that card away before it reaches the front if it would break a profitable field.
Trade for timing, not just raw bean count
One matching bean that reaches a payout threshold can be more valuable than two off-type beans. Judge deals by how they change the next harvest, not by card-for-card fairness.
Know which beans are common
Bean cards show how many copies exist in the deck. Rare beans pay sooner but appear less often; common beans need larger fields but are easier to extend through trades.
Do not harvest just because a field scores
If the next payout threshold is close and your hand/trading position can reach it safely, waiting may earn another Gold. Harvest when an incoming forced plant or strong trade makes continued growth unlikely.
Use donations to remove future problems
Giving a bean away for nothing can be profitable if keeping it would force you to destroy a better field later. The recipient still has to accept the donation, so negotiate that timing openly.
Track which opponents are near payout thresholds
Helping another player turn one extra bean into two more Gold is often too generous. Offer deals to players for whom the bean has lower marginal value when possible.
