How to Play Maracaibo: Cards, Caribbean Route & Influence

Maracaibo is a multi-use-card eurogame played across four rounds. Players sail clockwise around the Caribbean, choosing how far to move before resolving the location where they stop.

Scope: Capstone base game including the included campaign; no external expansions.

Move your ship

On your turn, move forward along the Caribbean route within the normal movement limit. Moving farther gains tempo but skips intermediate actions.

Resolve the destination

City spaces can allow project-card play, deliveries or special actions. Village spaces give smaller flexible actions.

Play project cards

Cards can be built into your tableau, used for goods/delivery icons or held for later. Built cards create income, abilities, combat/influence support or end-game scoring.

Deliver goods

Use the required goods icons to complete city deliveries and gain their rewards while advancing related tracks.

Influence nations

Combat/influence actions affect France, England and Spain. Your relative influence with each nation contributes to scoring.

Explore

Advance your explorer on the exploration track to gain bonuses and end-game value.

Upgrade your ship

Ship upgrades improve hand size, movement, income, assistants and other capabilities.

Round end

When a player reaches the final route location, the round closes under the official sequence. After round four, resolve final scoring.
