Sea Salt & Paper

Build scoring combinations from origami-art cards, trigger pair effects and decide when to end the round—or gamble on giving everyone one last turn.

♟2–4 Players◷15–30 Minutes♜Ages 8+⚙Light◆Push Your Luck

Draw cards from the deck or discard piles to build scoring sets and pairs with special effects.

Once your score reaches the threshold, you may end the round immediately or call Last Chance, giving opponents one final turn and increasing the reward if your gamble holds.

Why We Love It

Sea Salt & Paper keeps decisions sharp by making the end of the round part of the game. Building better combinations matters, but so does judging when your lead is strong enough to stop—or when giving everyone one last turn is worth the risk.

What is Sea Salt & Paper?

Sea Salt & Paper is a card game for 2–4 players published by Bombyx. Current Asmodee listings give a 15–30 minute range and age 8+.

The deck is illustrated with origami scenes and uses pairs, collections and end-round timing as its core systems.

How the game works

Players draw from face-down decks or visible discard piles, collecting sets and pairs. Certain pairs can be played for immediate effects such as taking another turn or stealing a card.

Once you reach enough points in hand, you can end the round immediately or offer opponents one final turn in an attempt to earn an extra scoring advantage.

The decisions that define it

The strongest tension is whether to stop safely or risk extending the round. Your visible plays give opponents clues, but most of your scoring remains hidden in hand.

Discard-pile access also rewards memory because a useful card may become available several turns after it first appeared.

Who is it for?

Choose Sea Salt & Paper if you want a short, portable card game with set collection, combo effects and a push-your-luck round ending.

Choose Jaipur for a market duel or SCOUT for a more unusual shedding-game puzzle.
