Draft for your card and the opponent’s reply
Before taking a line, check which new lines it exposes and whether they give away pearls, rare colors or a strong card purchase.
Permanent discounts compound
Early cards with useful colors can make later prestige cards much cheaper, but only if those colors match the visible market.
Track all three win conditions
An opponent can be behind on total prestige and still threaten victory through crowns or a color-specific prestige condition.
Privileges are tactical tempo
Use a privilege when one specific token unlocks a critical purchase or denies an immediate opponent threat.
Pearls are often the bottleneck
Do not spend them casually if your visible card route depends on another pearl-heavy purchase.
Endgame: deny the shortest route
Once either player is close to a victory condition, defense can be worth more than improving your long-term engine.
