El Grande Scoring & Castillo Rules: Rounds 3, 6 and 9
El Grande has three general scoring rounds: after rounds 3, 6 and 9. The Castillo is resolved first, then the map regions score.
1. Score the Castillo
Reveal all Caballeros inside the Castillo and compare quantities. Award first, second and third place using the Castillo’s printed scoring values, adjusting for player count and ties as the rulebook specifies.
2. Secretly choose Castillo destinations
Each player selects one legal region with the secret dial/device. After choices are locked, reveal them simultaneously and move all of that player’s Castillo Caballeros to the chosen region.
3. Score every region
Compare Caballeros in each region and award the printed first/second/third prestige values. The Grande itself does not count as a Caballero.
Grande bonus
If you have majority in the region containing your own Grande during a scoring, gain the additional Grande bonus specified by the rules.
King-region bonus
The player controlling the King’s region can receive the additional King-region scoring bonus when the scoring conditions are met.
Ties shift ranking
When players tie for a position, use the official tie rule to determine how the affected scoring ranks are reduced/shifted rather than splitting points by simple arithmetic.
Round 9 scoring is final
After the last Castillo and regional scoring, the player with the most prestige points wins.
