How to Play Dixit: Storyteller Clues, Voting & Scoring
Dixit is a storytelling game where the active storyteller gives a clue inspired by one illustrated card. Everyone else submits a decoy card that could match the same clue, then players vote for which image they think belongs to the storyteller.
The storyteller chooses one card and gives a clue
The clue can be a word, phrase, quote, sound or other permitted prompt. The storyteller places the chosen card face down without showing it.
Every other player submits a decoy
Each non-storyteller secretly selects one card from hand that could plausibly fit the clue. Shuffle all submitted cards together with the storyteller’s card and reveal them.
Everyone except the storyteller votes
Players secretly choose which revealed card they believe is the storyteller’s. You cannot vote for your own submitted card.
The storyteller wants some—but not all—correct guesses
If every player finds the storyteller’s card, the clue was too obvious; if nobody finds it, the clue was too obscure. The storyteller scores best when at least one but not all opponents identify the card.
Decoys can earn points too
Non-storytellers can score by identifying the correct card and by attracting votes to their own decoy. A good decoy is therefore plausible enough to tempt others without making your own vote harder.
Draw back up and rotate storyteller
After scoring, players refill their hands and the storyteller role moves clockwise. Continue until the game-end condition in the current edition is met.
