How to Play Lorenzo il Magnifico: Family Members, Towers & Faith
Lorenzo il Magnifico is a six-round worker-placement game where three shared dice determine the strength of every player’s colored Family Members for the round.
Scope: core rules of the current New Edition; bundled expansion content is excluded.
Roll the three shared dice
The black, white and orange dice establish the value of each matching Family Member for all players. Every player also has a neutral Family Member with its own fixed rules.
Place one Family Member
On your turn, place a Family Member onto a legal action space. The worker’s value must meet the space or card requirement, modified by servants and bonuses.
Acquire Development cards from towers
Green, blue, yellow and purple cards represent territories, characters, buildings and ventures. Pay the listed resources and any tower-occupancy cost required by the rules.
Harvest and Production
Territory cards can trigger during Harvest; Building cards during Production. Your Family Member strength determines which cards activate, with servants increasing value when needed.
Council Palace and turn order
The Council action provides resources/favors and can influence turn order for the next round.
Faith and Vatican Reports
After rounds 2, 4 and 6, resolve a Vatican Report. Players with enough Faith may support the Church and gain the associated reward, while players who do not can suffer the period’s Excommunication effect.
Final scoring
After round 6, add final points from qualifying Development cards, resources and other core end-game categories.
