Lorenzo il Magnifico

Lorenzo il Magnifico explained: shared dice set family-member strength, development cards build an engine, production and harvest generate resources, and faith shapes end-of-period penalties.

♟2–4 Players◷60–120 Min♜Ages 12+⚙Heavy◆New Edition

Lead a noble Renaissance family by sending family members to towers and action spaces across Florence, with three shared dice determining their strength each round.

Development cards build a growing engine of territories, buildings, characters and ventures while faith and excommunication create pressure across three periods.

Why We Love It

Every shared die roll changes the action landscape for everyone at once. Strong play comes from turning those changing worker values into a coherent card engine rather than chasing isolated bonuses.

About Lorenzo il Magnifico

Players acquire development cards from four towers, activate production and harvest rows, gather resources and manage relations with the Church.

The current Cranio Creations New Edition bundles the base game with substantial additional content, while the core system remains built around six rounds across three periods.

Rules overview

At the start of each round, three shared dice set the strength of each player’s matching family members. Players place family members into towers and action spaces to acquire cards, collect resources, activate production or harvest, and influence turn order. Development cards add immediate and ongoing effects. After every two rounds, a Vatican report checks faith. After six rounds, final points are added to those gained during play.

Key decisions

Editorial analysis: Evaluate cards by both their immediate effect and how well they amplify later production or harvest actions. A low shared die is not simply bad luck—it changes which discounts, servants and alternate action spaces become strategically valuable.
